You have questions.  We have answers.

Please do not hesitate to call or email any questions that you may have about our programs.  Here is a short list of frequently asked questions that you may find helpful.

Is before/after school care offered?

White Oak does not provide before/after school care.  We strive to be a very academic driven program.  We believe that offering day care may take away from the academic integrity of our programs.

01

How much religion is taught?

White Oak's number one goal is to provide education in a safe and nurturing environment.   We DO incorporate a monthly bible verse.  So, there is a definite Christianity influence weaved into the curriculum.  Pastor Drew is amazing during the class "religious education" lesson, which occurs once a month (for about 10-15 minutes).

02

How old does my child have to be to enroll?

October 1st is our birthdate cut-off for our Acorns and Oaks programs.  Children must be 3 by Oct. 1st for Acorns and 4 by Oct. 1st for Oaks.  Our Mighty Oaks program is designed for children that will be 5 years old by December 31st of the current year or an entrance assessment is passed.

03

Does my child need to be potty-trained?

Absolutely.  White Oak students need to be 100% potty-trained.  We understand that there will be accidents, but children should be fully potty-trained before entering.

04

Does my child need to bring a lunch/snack?

White Oak provides 2% milk for snacktime only.  Small nutritious snacks should be brought to school.  Oaks and Mighty Oaks should also bring a full lunch including drink along with their snack.

05

How do I pay?

To reserve a child's spot in one of our three programs, a $95 non-refundable registration fee (check written out to White Oak Children's Academy) along with a completed registration form should be mailed to 1538 Janice Dr. Schererville, IN  46375 or dropped off at the church office.   Tuition is due on the 15th of each month starting in August and ending in April.  An automated invoice will be sent via email as a reminder.  Please send in a check via "backpack" mail.  At this time, White Oak does not accept credit cards. If you preferred to pay with a bank ACH transfer, please request an invoice via email.

06

How can I be involved in the classroom?

Once the classroom teacher and students establish a routine and kids really feel a sense of ownership over the classroom, parents are welcome in to volunteer in our classrooms.  We ask parents to contact the classroom teacher and make arrangements for this.  A lot of our teachers set up weekly center rotations with parent volunteers.  We also have classroom holiday parties that we open the doors to parent volunteers.  We LOVE the help!

07

Do students go on field trips?

Absolutely!  White Oak takes field trips about 4 times per school year.  In the past, we have gone to the pumpkin patch, apple orchard, Bellaboo's Children's Museum and Munster Performing Arts for a play.  We DO NOT provide transportation.  Field trips are usually scheduled for Wednesdays or Thursdays.  On the day of a trip, we meet at the field trip location.  We do not meet at the school before or after the trip.  A parent or another adult must accompany the child for the duration of the trip and provide transportation.
